Action

Action is the antidote to despair.  ~ Joan Baez

Gratitude in a Bah Humbug World

Some things have to be believed to be seen.  ~ Ralph Hodgson

I live near the beach and have the wonderful choice of stopping by each day to see the sky, feel the wind and hear the surf roll over the sand. It is paradise, even on the cold, blustery days and especially on those warm sunny days when the breeze is balmy, the surf is gentle and the sun is warm on your face.

I am grateful for the living; for the chance to walk each day along the shore and listen to the birds calling, watch the pelicans diving from on high and calm my mind.  There is a new perspective after walking the beach, the endless lists of gifts to buy, the stressful schedule, the crowded stores, they fall away and leave the peace of gratitude behind. I listen to the inner voice, the loving grateful voice that reminds me of the many blessings in my life. Health, family, friends and work all are mine, to cherish and rejoice.

Serenity restored it’s time to return but oh how thankful I am, the cure for the Bah Humbugs is found and it is good.

Among the Angels

The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.  ~ George Elliot

Hope

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.  ~ Anne Lamott

Kindness

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.  ~ Mark Twain

Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement – and we will make the goal.  ~Jerome Fleishman

Restoring Hope

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. ~ Chinese Proverb

The iris will have to stand in for the lily, however, both are delicate flowers with strong scents, strong stems with vibrant colors. When there is no money, the soul must still be fed with beauty and the reminder of the constancy of nature. The seasons change, the cold gives way to the warmth and the hope of renewal and rebirth is restored.

Today, give hope to another. Smile at a stranger, let somebody move ahead in the checkout line, slow down for the biker along the road. Give the gift of yourself, your spirit, to others. Cost is no longer a factor and your soul will feel the restoration of hope, just as you lift the spirit of the other.

Gifts of ourselves are the ultimate kindness. Give today and restore hope.
